The Mother

The Mother was formed in 1992, playing a form of indie rock that was inspired by the likes of Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Ride and the Smashing Pumpkins. They released their first demo in 1993, then followed it up by contributing two tracks to BigO magazine’s New School Rock IV compilation in 1994. In 1995, they had another two tracks included in Pony Canyon compilation Flush After Use. That same year also saw them making their maiden and only appearance on national TV, when they became the only Singapore band to reach the final of the first Asia Bagus band competition. The Mother released their debut album, A Dark Trip On The Ill Tip, in 2001. Twelve years lapsed before they came out with their second album, titled Lost Shadows In The Dark, which was available only on Bandcamp. In 2014, they released their “greatest hits” compilation titled The Little Band I Once Knew. Their fourth and final album, Trip The Light Fantastic, came out on Bandcamp in 2015.
